A&S and Failure Displays

Following the success of last year, we are once again having a display area for people to show their A&S work without having to enter it in THE PENT for judging in the competition.

There will be two display areas:

1. The A&S Display: We will have tables for you to show your work without having it judged. This benefits those who would like to show their work, but really are not into going through the whole competition thing, and it also lightens the workload for the judges as only those who really want to compete will be entering their work in the regular Pent, while everyone who really just wants people to see what they have been working on has an avenue for that. This is not a blind display as it will not be judged - we ask that you bring at the minimum an index card with your name on it, and a short description of your item. Documentation is welcome!

2. The Failure Display. Started last year by Master Thorpe, he explains, "Of course you cannot have success without occasionally having failure. It is an inevitable part of the learning/growing process. I am quite positive that I am not the only Laurel out there who has had spectacular failures in the process of getting to the level I am at now."

In the spirit of celebrating the process of mastering the arts, there will once again be a Failure Display. We challenge all of the artisans of Æthelmearc (especially other members of the Laurel and the Fleur) to bring a failure or two to display, the more spectacular the failure, the better. Please bring a short write-up explaining why and/or how the exhibited piece failed. If you do not have the actual failure anymore but can do a quick write-up of something that was a spectacular failure, that works too.

Both of these areas will be clearly marked in the Pent Room - no need to check in to place your displays! We want to showcase all artisans in our Kingdom, not just those who choose to compete!
